DAY 1
All teachers and staff greeted us when we came to the school. First, we gifted special to our culture Turkish coffee, Turkish delight and cups and taught them how to make Turkish coffee. Later, all classes in the school were visited and examined. Classes were very large and organized. Each class was different from each other. There were beds that could be opened and closed in younger age groups. In some lessons, the wooden playhouse caught our attention. Later, all the children gathered in the garden were waiting for the traditional baby burning activity of their own culture. While the baby was cremated, the children accompanied their cultural songs with their own rhythm equipment. They said that this activity was to drive out winter and evil.
Afternoon we attended the traditional weekly city carnival in SF Gheorghe Central Park. They said that this carnival is organized for different purposes every week.
DAY 2
On our second day, we attended classroom activities. In the first of the classes we visited, we participated in the activities where local clothes of their own culture were introduced, while we observed the activities of that day in other classes. When we moved to another class, there was a local bracelet making activity. They said that the purpose of this traditional bracelet is to protect the person against evil spirits. Together with the children, we learned to make bracelets and they gave us bracelets. Another class was the Montessori classroom. In this class, they made and baked their own bread.
We attended the Playback Group show with all the teachers at the school. This was a drama group. First we played various fun games to get to know each other. Then they made beautiful drama shows. From time to time, they included us in the show too. We ended the night with dinner in a wonderful traditional restaurant.
DAY 3
Early in the morning we set out for the city of Brasov and Bran Castle. Located between the Bucegi Mountains in the east and the Piatra Craiului Mountains in the West, Bran Castle, or Dracula's Castle, was literally a gloomy Gothic monument from the outside. This place eventually became the symbol of Romania, with a bit of history, a bit of Bram Stoker's famous Dracula. The torture devices inside this wooden fort drew particular attention and frightened us.
Our next trip stop was Raşnov Castle. The castle was reached by special vehicles similar to tractors. A small surprise awaited us when we arrived at the castle, the castle was closed. While we were sad about this, it started to snow at that moment and the unique nature view formed with the snow fascinated us greatly. They said it hadn't snowed in this area for a long time, and it was a great chance to see it.
We stopped by the Poina Braşov ski resort after it snowed. Then we set off to go to Braşov city center. In Brasov, we first visited the Black Church. The church, which was completely burned due to the great fire in Braşov in 1689, was named the Black Church because only the surviving walls were in black. In addition, there were carpets gifted by the Ottomans on the walls of the church. We completed our trip by visiting the city center.
DAY 4
Today was our last day in Sfantu Gheorghe. When we went to school, all the teachers were waiting to us to do an interesting and fun activity. The activity of making wool dolls with a needle. Although we had a lot of dif=iculties because we encountered this activity for the =irst time, we made beautiful wool dolls with the help of teachers. We bid farewell to Sfantu Gherorghe with wool dolls and gifts from Gulliver Kindergarten and set offed for Bucharest.
FREE DAY
Our last day in Romania. Since our project is about culture, we devoted our day to touring Bucharest and getting to know the Romanian culture a little more. Bucharest, the capital and largest city of Romania, is also the country's cultural, industrial and =inancial center. In the period between the two World Wars, the city's elegant architecture and sophistication earned Bucharest the title of "Little Paris". First, we visited the Parliament Palace, which is the largest building in Europe and the second largest building in the world after the Pentagon. It captivated us all with its magni=icent architecture. Then, because we had little time, we toured the center of Bucharest and set off towards the airport.
